About Us

The Scissorists grew out of several ventures in the craft industry.  Owner, Becca Smith, loves anything handmade and celebrates crafters of all techniques.  This passion was passed down to her by her grandmother and mother.  They taught her how to knit, crochet, Tunisian crochet, embroider and needlepoint during her grade school years.  Throughout her career she has been part of the artist community in Chicago and Cleveland and has written two books on knitting and has created many patterns and projects for knitting, crochet and embroidery.

In 2005, Becca's company, Tres Chic Stitchery began distributing handmade French scissors and haberdashery items from Maison Sajou in Versailles, France.  The Sajou line is extremely popular, but the scissors in particular sparked a special passion.  During the pandemic Becca decided to bring her own scissor designs to market, made in the USA to exacting standards, prompting an evolution of Tres Chic Stitchery into something brand new. Scissorists was born in collaboration with a master scissor maker, debuting with a line of 5 styles of heirloom quality tools with more on the drawing board.  In addition, the Scissorists features curated handmade items and fine supplies for crafters including threads, needles and more.
